Largs Thistle produced a strong away performance to earn a valuable point against Auchinleck Talbot in a competitive Premier Division encounter at Beechwood Park.
Both sides started brightly, with early pressure from Largs as David Ramsay’s header was cleared off the line before goalkeeper George O’Connor made a good stop from Scott Schoneville.
Talbot’s keeper Willie Muir was called into action several times in the first half, producing a superb double save at point-blank range on 40 minutes to deny the visitors the opener.
The first half ended goalless, with both teams showing defensive discipline and determination.
After the break, the game opened up, and it was Largs Thistle who struck first. On 61 minutes, Blair Devine unleashed a spectacular strike from 40 yards that flew into the net, giving Largs a 1–0 lead and sending the travelling fans wild.
Talbot introduced Langan and Nimmo for Gillies and Thomson in the 83rd minute, followed later by Crooks and Sime replacing others on 89 minutes as they pushed for an equaliser.
Their persistence paid off at the very end when Liam Main converted a 90th-minute penalty to level the match.
Despite the late setback, Largs can take plenty of positives from a disciplined display and a stunning long-range goal that will live long in the memory with the fan doon in Largs.
