Peter Urminsky joins Glentoran on loan until end of season

St Mirren Football Club has confirmed that goalkeeper Peter Urminsky has joined Northern Irish side Glentoran on loan until the end of the season.

The Slovakian stopper makes the move to the NIFL Premiership in search of regular first-team football, with the Buddies retaining the option to recall him in January.

Peter signed for St Mirren in January 2020 following the end of his contract with Spartak Trnava.

Since then, he has had loan spells at Stenhousemuir and Ayr United. He made his senior debut for Saints in a 2-0 win over Cowdenbeath in the Premier Sports Cup in July 2022, before going on to make his Scottish Premiership debut against Rangers in May 2023.

He featured in the opening matches of the current season’s Premier Sports Cup against Arbroath and Forfar Athletic, and now heads to Glentoran to gain more game time and continue his development.

Manager Stephen Robinson said: “Peter will go out on loan and get the minutes we keep talking about. I believe the best way to develop is to play football. You get opportunities every day in training but you never know where somebody is, so he needs to go and play.

“It’s a competitive league, there are real demands and I believe he’ll excel. It’s nothing but good to come back with that experience and potentially create another big asset at the football club.”
