Some WoSFL matches and cup ties postponed as Storm Amy brings disruption

Severe weather caused by Storm Amy has forced widespread postponements across the West of Scotland Football League and cup competitions today (Saturday 4th October).

High winds and localised flooding left pitches unplayable across the region, though a number of matches are still going ahead at the time of publishing.

Among the Strathclyde Demolition Cup ties called off were:

Kilwinning v Renfrew

Cambuslang v Glasgow University

Threave Rovers v Darvel

BSC Glasgow v Petershill

Muirkirk Juniors v Rossvale Academy

Thorniewood v Ashfield

Bonnyton Thistle v Finnart

Arthurlie v Eglinton

Carluke Rovers v St Roch’s

East Kilbride v St Peter’s

Glasgow United v Drumchapel

Lesmahagow v Ardeer Thistle

Royal Albert v Campbeltown

Shotts v Irvine Meadow XI

Thorn Athletic v Maybole

West Park United v Benburb

Wishaw v Glasgow Perthshire

In the West of Scotland Premier Division, Johnstone Burgh’s home match against Auchinleck Talbot was also postponed.

The league confirmed the decision was taken for safety reasons, with strong winds and surface water affecting travel as well as playing conditions.

Fans are advised to check with their clubs for rearranged fixture dates, which will be announced in due course.
