St Mirren played their first competitive home game of the new season and ran out 8–2 winners. The Buddies got off to a flying start, scoring three goals in the first nine minutes - two from Killian Phillips and one from Mikael Mandron. They continued to dominate until late in the first half, when Annan pulled one back in the 38th minute through a trialist. Half-time score: 3–1 to the Saints. Annan netted their second in the 57th minute, again courtesy of a trialist. Was this the beginning of a shock comeback? St Mirren quickly regained their composure and went on to score five more in the second half. Richard King, making his St Mirren debut, slotted home a penalty in the 61st minute. Jayden Richardson added one in the 84th, while Mandron struck twice in the 82nd and 87th minutes to complete his hat-trick. Roland Idowu sealed the 8th goal in the 92nd minute. Man of the Match surely goes to young Fraser Taylor, who was outstanding throughout. By Hugh McMillan.
