Beith Juniors sign Kieran MacDonald from Troon

Beith Juniors have announced the signing of Kieran MacDonald on a permanent transfer from Troon.

The experienced defender began his career at Motherwell before moving to Hamilton Academical, where he featured in the Scottish Premiership.

He went on to have spells at East Fife, Airdrieonians and then Raith Rovers, where he won the League 1 title. Over the past few seasons, he has also played at East Kilbride, under Mick Dunlop at Gartcairn, and had a short spell at Troon earlier this season.

MacDonald, who is comfortable at left back, can also provide cover at centre back and in midfield — offering Beith valuable versatility across the back line.

Beith manager Mick Dunlop was delighted to be reunited with the player.

He said: “I spoke to Kieran in the summer but it came too late as we had already brought in defenders.

“Now with us needing a natural left back, as soon as Kieran became available it was a move we had to make. He is composed on the ball and will suit the way we want to play, and I’m looking forward to seeing him link up with our squad.”

MacDonald joins the Bellsdale Park side as they continue their strong campaign in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division.
