WoSFL Premier Roundup: Troon stay top as Talbot keep the pressure on
Troon remain top of the West of Scotland Premier Division after edging out Largs Thistle 1–0 at Portland Park.
Kyle Gilroy’s first-half strike on 28 minutes was enough to separate the sides, keeping Troon two points clear at the summit on 27 points.
Auchinleck Talbot kept pace in second place after a 4–2 victory away to Kilwinning Rangers.
Ewan Thomson netted twice for Talbot, while Connor Boyd and Alex Nimmo were also on target. Ryan Wilson scored both goals for Kilwinning, but it wasn’t enough to stop the visitors taking all three points.
Hurlford United continued their strong form with a 2–1 home win against Pollok.
Lewis Morrison and Dean Hawkshaw found the net for Hurlford after the visitors had taken an early lead. The result keeps the Ford third in the table with 18 points.
Johnstone Burgh impressed again at Keanie Park with a 4–1 victory over Rutherglen Glencairn.
Darren Christie bagged a brace, while Max Kerr and Scott Forrester were also on target for Burgh. Ryan McManus replied from the penalty spot for Glencairn.
Elsewhere, Renfrew came out on top in a six-goal thriller at New Western Park, defeating Glenafton Athletic 4–2.
Ben McLernan and Ben Harwood gave Renfrew a first-half lead before Glenafton twice levelled through Michael Mullen. The hosts restored control late on, with a Glenafton own goal and a composed finish sealing the win.
Arthurlie continued their recent revival with a 3–2 away win at Shotts Bon Accord.
Mark Taylor, Keiran Healy and Ryan Barr were all on the scoresheet as the Barrhead side secured three important points despite a spirited Shotts performance.
