St Cadoc’s and Arthurlie played out an extraordinary 5–5 draw in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division on Saturday, 17th January 2026, in a game that swung back and forward from start to finish.

Arthurlie made a flying start and were three goals up inside the opening 12 minutes. Mark Taylor opened the scoring after just two minutes, Sean Slaven added a second, and Kieran Healy made it 3–0 with a neat finish.

St Cadoc’s struggled early on but gave themselves hope before half-time when Scott Ferguson scored from distance. Arthurlie went in at the break leading 3–1.

The home side came out strongly after the restart. Thomas Cruden pulled it back to 3–2 in the 47th minute, and Ferguson then equalised on 56 minutes after winning and scoring a penalty.

Arthurlie hit back quickly, with Taylor scoring his second goal to make it 4–3. St Cadoc’s replied again when Leo Adam finished off a good move to level the game at 4–4.

With 15 minutes left, Arthurlie looked to have won it when Sean Doherty scored from a corner to make it 5–4. Soon after, Arthurlie were reduced to ten men following a red card, with no yellow cards reported in the match updates.

St Cadoc’s kept pushing and got their reward late on. In the 85th minute, Cruden scored his second of the game, finishing from close range after Ferguson hit the bar, to make it 5–5.

After ten goals, two big comebacks, and late drama, both sides had to settle for a point in one of the most entertaining games of the season.
