Celtic are safely through to the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals after hitting Falkirk with three quickfire goals in the second half.

The holders had to be patient at Celtic Park, with John McGlynn’s side making life difficult for long spells, but a devastating 10-minute burst after the hour mark settled the tie.

It was a different story from last season, when then-Championship Falkirk stunned Celtic by leading 2-1 at half-time in their last-eight clash before eventually losing 5-2. This time, as a fellow Premiership outfit, they were on the back foot from the first whistle.

Despite Brendan Rodgers making six changes from the team that won in Aberdeen at the weekend, Celtic still looked sharp and controlled throughout, and never looked in danger of slipping up as they recorded a third straight win.
