Largs Thistle edged out Beith Juniors by a solitary goal, climbing to 7th spot in the table while Beith remain in 10th. The decisive moment came in the 58th minute when Sean McLeod’s persistence paid off, proving once again that in football, one moment of brilliance can tip the scales.

The match started with both sides testing their defensive. In the seventh minute, Largs goalkeeper Johnston sprang into action with a crucial save from Abraham Osemeke, staving off early danger. Beith's attacking intent was clear as Jordan Stuart’s 25th-minute effort just grazed the post, and eight minutes later, Callum Graham’s strike scraped the woodwork. Even after Osemeke had his shot deflected by Johnston, Graham’s follow-up went over the bar, leaving the scores level at halftime.

The second half saw Largs Thistle picking up the pressure. Shortly after the restart, Will Sewell forced a save from Beith’s keeper Stott at the 47th minute. Largs then ramped up the offensive with Liam McVey testing the visitors’ keeper from distance at 50 minutes. The momentum continued with successive stops from David Ramsay and Ryan Deas at 51 and 52 minutes, highlighting Largs’ relentless drive for the breakthrough.

A well-worked cross from David Ramsay nearly found its destined target in Ryan Deas at 56 minutes, but it was in the 58th minute that Sean McLeod’s delivery—a cross that was first parried by Stott—eventually led to his goal, securing the win for the home side.

The final stages of the game were filled with further close calls. Beith’s Ryan McCreath nearly leveled the contest with a header blocked right on the line at 76 minutes, and an 88th-minute shot from substitute Deas sailed over the bar in a last-ditch effort to mount a comeback. Despite the persistent pressure from Beith, their efforts ultimately fell short as the visitors were unable to breach Largs’ determined defence.

This hard-earned victory provided three points for Largs Thistle but also allowed them to leapfrog Cumnock Juniors in the league standings.

Over the weekend, Largs will face Johnstone Burgh once more in a league match—just three weeks after their Scottish Junior Cup semi-final clash on 19 April 2025.

Then, on 18 May 2025, 2pm kick off, Johnstone Burgh will travel to Barrfields Stadium for the second leg of the Scottish Junior Cup semi-final and play Largs yet again.
