Troon came out on top with a 2–1 win over Renfrew in a closely fought WoSFL Premier Division match.
The home side took the lead on 40 minutes through Gilroy, with chances at a premium in a tight first half. Renfrew grew into the game after the break and were rewarded on 78 minutes when Ben McLernan capitalised on a defensive error, rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball into an empty net.
The draw didn’t last long. Troon responded almost immediately, with Lovering striking a minute later to restore the lead and ultimately decide the contest.
Renfrew later admitted it “wasn’t our day” after a performance that pushed Troon all the way but left them empty-handed.
